This FAQ page will answer almost all of your questions regarding your session. Please feel free to email Michaela if you have additional questions!

When do newborn sessions take place?

Newborn sessions take place between days 4-14. It is highly recommended to schedule your session within the first 10 days, Michaela’s favorite age is 8 days old. Newborns this young are more likely to “curl up” and remain sleepy for the duration of the session. During this age range baby sleeps up to 18 hours a day and remains wonderfully “womb” like.  After 10 days baby starts to stretch their little limbs and will start to be awake for longer periods of time.

My baby is older then two weeks old, is it too late for newborn pictures?

Absolutely not. Babies that are three or four weeks old can certainly come in for a newborn session. It will just take a little more effort for everyone.

How do I book a newborn session when I’m not sure when baby will be born?

You will meet with Michaela, sign a contract and leave a deposit. Michaela will then note your due date in her calendar and once baby is here you will set up a day and time for your session.

My baby is already born, can I still book?

Of course, Michaela would love to fit you in as long as there is time available.

How long does a newborn session last?

Newborn sessions last two-three hours. There is plenty of time for breaks for baby. Sessions are absolutely never rushed.

Can I bring something special like an heirloom or prop to include in the session?

Absolutely! Michaela Marie Photography has all the headbands, hats, blankets and buckets we will need but if there is anything special you would like to use, please feel free to bring it!

Where does the session take place?

All newborn sessions take place at the Michaela Marie Photography studio. Baby sessions may be done outdoors or in the studio. All family sessions are done outdoors.

What is the temperature in the studio?

The studio will be VERY warm during your session. This is a technique used to keep baby cozy and sleepy. Remember baby is used to a toasty 98 degrees in the womb. Studio will be around 75-80 degrees.

Do you offer baby plan packages?

At this time Michaela Marie Photography does not offer baby plans.

Has Michaela had the T-Dap vaccine?

Yes, Michaela is certainly up to date with her T-Dap vaccine.
